Work experience
December 2009–current Freelance editor, proofreader, and writer
I work with a range of clients to produce high-quality publications, online material, and exhibition collateral. Over the last 16 years, I have copyedited over 140 publications on art, as well as accompanying didactics, promotional material and online content. I work closely with curators, writers, artists and designers to deliver these outcomes, liaising with them at every stage of the project. In my work as an academic editor, I have edited over 300 postgraduate dissertations by students enrolled in many different universities across Australia. As a writer, I have been commissioned by several galleries and the State Library of Queensland to write copy for exhibitions catalogues and online material, and have had numerous art exhibition reviews published in reputable journals.
October 2013 – December 2025 Editor-in-Residence, GUPSA, Griffith University, Brisbane
I assisted over 400 postgraduate students with their writing through the free editing service offered by GUPSA. Editing included marking up assignments, thesis chapters, conference papers, etc., in track changes. I also delivered many online workshops in Teams and in person, providing information on writing, editing, punctuation, grammar, and referencing to the students
January 2011 – July 2014 Editor (part-time), QCA, Griffith University, Brisbane
I assisted many postgraduate Fine Art students with their Doctor of Visual Art, Master of Visual Art, and PhD exegeses, editing and formatting their work. I also edited numerous QCA and Griffith publications. I was the editorial assistant for the academic journal Studio Research, which, in addition to copyediting, required overseeing the peer-review process, organising images for reproduction, and liaising with the authors and designers
February 2009 – January 2014 Editor (part-time), Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane
I was responsible for copyediting and proofreading in-house publications. Part of my role included overseeing the administration of the A-ranked art history journal Australian and New Zealand Journal of Art. This included liaising with authors, peer reviewers, the editorial board, designers, and so on, and organising copyright for many image reproductions.
